Basic theory behind the Fund Raisers

Besides raising funds, the funds to raise funds have to come from somewhere. Being so, 10 to 20% of the raised funds will go to pay back for our bills. Let's see, we have Miriam do some cakes= She buys the ingredients, gives someone the bills (Someone prolly will be João, he wanted to handle the money and seemed serious about it) and that money will be returned to her with that 10 to 20% margin we get from the funds raised. The rest of the money will be stored safely with one of us or even a bank account and will be used for the next fund raising event. That way the group manages itself.

In the future, If it all goes well and we end up being an awesome fund raising group, we might even get support from leading brands such as Sagres and others which might eventually take out the need for the 10% to 20% in the bank account.

Now that should solve the monetary issues. Unless they end up being more complicated than I expect but if so, we'll find a way when the time comes.

Also, Trevas, is it possible to make the blog bi-lingual? As in, a little flag to click and pau, language change? If that's too complicated, or even impossible seeing this place is free, we should start doing the blogs in English and Portuguese.

On another note: I'll be needing everyone to post what they can do for the group, just so it'll be easier to plan the events, knowing our material and stuff. I'll be doing my list bellow. Please post yours in the form of a comment or something. Thanks

Adolfo= I have a PS2 and other systems with different games, in case we do some kind of tourny; a empty house most of the time, in case we need it for cooking or storage; a theater group that works as a democracy so, depending on the day, should be easy to get'em to do the plays we have ready, whenever needed; got a street performing group, can possibly ask'em to prepare a fire performance and/or animation for children and stuff in turn for a fee; can arrange(not mine but can ask for) for a projector; can possibly get someone to sew dresses or anything; can possibly have musicians; can possibly have drawings and sketches to help with any thematic; got a tai chi group, can ask'em to show up in case we ever do a healthy thing or whatever; can possibly arrange for spotlights.

Please post yours as a comment or something so we can keep a track of what the group itself has available.

Thank you Very Much
Adolfo Ribeiro

Note: You guys need to change the colour scheme for this blog... It just doesn't work and it's quite painful for the eye.

Sorry for the LONG comment but I thought it could explain and help with a couple of questions and doubts.

So... you just need to organize your committee. Well, you can change the names but the 'job' description is basically the same. Try and find someone who can take this 'job':

President
(The President calls and chairs meetings, and allocates tasks to other members. You must be prepared to speak in meetings and do a little bit of organizing. You'll also act as the liaison person with staff when necessary.)

Vice President
(Similar to the above; you'll be expected to stand in if the President isn't available.)

Treasurer
(You'll look after the group funds, fill out forms for money, and funds gathered. Keep all records and receipts, etc.)

Student Mentor/Event Organizer/Publicity Officer
(you'll have a big input into how activities are organized. You should be prepared to spend quite a lot of time answering emails in the first few weeks, and to be available to talk to any students who are having problems.)

Social Secretaries
(You'll be in charge of organizing social events: e.g. ringing locations for balls, taking orders for hoodies/T-shirts, organizing theatre trips, etc. There are usually at least two social secretaries.)

This is just an idea but I guess it can help with what "Aaron Ray" was saying - Getting to know Who and What can people can do -

You're right, thanks. We'll be dealing with that soon enough.

Thanks a lot :)
